Citect SCADA Brand Consolidation - Decommercialization of Vijeo Citect Dual Brand

Moving forward in 2018 Schneider Electric will be continuing the process of decommercializing Vijeo Citect. As part of the ongoing process improvement strategies this decision is in line with their shift of focus toward simplifying the customer experience and continuing their investment in the Citect SCADA brand.

Logistics / Product impacts:

As of January 1st, 2017, Vijeo Citect part numbers have been inactive, but each part has an equivalent Citect part number. Also, all future licences will be fulfilled on Citect SCADA keys and there is no requirement to migrate existing licenses with Vijeo Citect keys since they are compatible with Citect SCADA 2016.

Please note: Citect SCADA keys are completely compatible with Vijeo Citect 7.30 and later versions. For Vijeo Citect version 7.20 and earlier there is a dedicated procedure detailed in Citect SCADA Brand Consolidation FAQs.

Rationale:

As communicated during the launch of Citect SCADA 2016, this consolidation reinforces the ongoing investment in their flagship Citect SCADA product whilst aligning their logistical practices with the migration of Citect ordering processes to OPA. The consolidation is also an effort to simplify the customer experience and eliminate the duplication of effort and costs associated with dual brand strategies.

Verizon - Retiring its CDMA Network

Here's what you need to know about the changes.

Better technology to better your business.

To those of our customers who currently use Verizon's CDMA network for their M2M and/or IoT devices, this is a friendly notice that they will be retiring this network in 2019. Verizon recently announced it's plan to officially shut off its CDMA network (1x/EVDO, 2G/3G) on December 31, 2019 and to stop activating new devices on CDMA after June 30, 2018. Verizon's 4G LTE network has now surpassed its CDMA network in coverage, efficiency and in capabilities, prompting Verizon to make this transition. Starting January 1, 2020 Verizon will only be operating its 4G LTE network, meaning that CDMA services—including voice, data and text messaging; devices and modules supporting 1xRTT-only, 1xEVDO-only, 1xRTT and 1xEVDO; and any combination of 1xRTT and 1xEVDO with other radio access technologies not including LTE—may no longer operate. Fortunately, most Verizon routers that have been sold new in the past few years should be on the 4G LTE network. However, if you are uncertain about which network your Verizon router is operating on be sure to check in with a certified distributor.
